I love the black & white combo, I think it's so chic! I picked up the black maxi dress and the white jacket from Global Desi's new summer line. Both pieces are so versatile, and look great when worn together or paired with other ensembles. Due to the details on the jacket, it pairs beautifully with gold bangles and gold statement necklaceJust FYI - I can't seem to find the exact white jacket online, which is a shame. However, I have linked something similar! xoxo V
I'm feeling the winter blues! Isn't it time for warm weather already? I battle them with retail therapy! Just kidding...sort of. I was in need of a new jacket so I went for this half wool, half polyester Calvin Klein jacket from Macy's. The nice thing about shopping for a jacket in February is that everything is on sale! xoxx V
Bag - Ann Taylor Loft Outlet, boots - Steve Madden, sweater - Forever 21, chambray shirt - J Crew, Necklace - H & M, earring jackets - Melroso
I'm so proud of this dress! I saw a salwar material hanging at my tailor's in Mumbai and immediately I couldn't see anything else but this straight cut dress. The contrast turned out better than I had envisioned - with the red/orange embroidery and the grey sleeves. I paired it with gold bangles & jhimkis from Linking Road market in Mumbai, with black Jessica Simpson pumps. xoxoV
Believe it or not, this lehenga was once a sari! I found this sari while I was traveling around India and upon first glance, I knew it would make the most beautiful lehenga. It's a faux Benarasi silk sari, however, still felt heavy. I had my (amazingly talented) tailor stitch box layered box pleats in the front and back so it can have volume. I used the attached blouse piece for the top, which I thought would be elegant with a high collar & 3/4 sleeves, to which I attached the same border that's in the skirt for continuity.
I paired it with gold-ish bangles, statement necklace I spotted at a street market in Mumbai & shimmery Steve Madden flats. Full disclosure: I couldn't stop twirling! xoxoV
After a show in Dubai, I roamed around the old Dubai area for a while. It was so beautiful, the architecture was historic. Totally deserted as well! The romper is from my favorite Global Desi. Comfortable and light for hot weather!
This still is from my performance at University of Pennsylvania! I had a great time as clarly evidenced by my facial expressions :) Dress - Bebe, necklace - The Fashionest. xoxo V
Yes, my hair is green! Winston did such an amazing job! Some of my color faded so he used neon greens and blues to get the hues to show up brighter on my dark hair. It looks more subtle in person, unless I'm standing in the sunlight! I love the way it turned out! xoxo V
I used to really hate this skirt. It's part of a Indian half-saree set, which was gifted to me in 9th grade. I never wore it because I disliked the grey. Until I repurposed it. It works well with a black crop top and a chunky necklace! I'm still not a huge fan of the second set of stitches around the hips, which is unflattering. However, I love the length and the lightness of the fabric! The black crop top is from Papaya, and the necklace is from Charlotte Russe outlet. This is the 3rd video I wore the crop top in and I just keep loving it more by the day! xoxoV
I was sifting through a box of old clothes today, and I found this XXI Forever plaid bomber jacket. It used to be a favorite, although I remember never being able to wear it right. I'm not sure if I even do now, but I thought it would pair well with this bright blue romper from Necessary Clothing. The necklace is from Fashionest, a brand new jewelry line launched by one of my friends from college. Definitely check out her collection, some really great pieces in there! I wear these Steve Madden boots everyday (and my past 4 posts), so you already know they are from DSW! Happy weekend! xoxo V
I tend to hate the winter, and the cold in general. However, this year I have been enjoying the leaving turning gorgeous colors, the crispness in the air and the smell of pumpkin-spice everything. For this look, I chose my favorite Urban Outfitters sweater dress, with knit leggings from XXI Forever. My boots are Steve Madden, on sale from the trusty DSW Warehouse. Happy Fall! xoxo V
This probably one of my favorite pictures, ever! The top is from the LF Store and I got it on their craaaash sale (seriously it was $150, on sale for $25)! I was compelled to get it because the embroidery is very bright and borrows from Indian clothes. The checkered sheer skirt is from Papaya. The necklace is from I Am. Bangles are from XXI Forever and a charm bracelet from Alex & Ani. xoxo V
Took a break from the studio (with no windows :|) to get some fresh air. Floral top from my favorite haven - H&M - and lace shorts from Papaya. Ear jackets from another recent favorite, Melroso. I wear these earrings everywhere, everyday. So beautiful and totally worth it! My flats are oldies but goodies, from DSW. Sigh, back to recording! xoxo V
We wanted to shoot this video in front of this beautiful 700 ft graffiti wall in D.C. I felt like the song lent itself to something colorful yet edgy. I paired this Global Desi crop top (which is Anita Dongre's line, one of my favorites. I own way too many clothes from here), with this Zara faux leather skirt, which I got in Mumbai. Word of caution: it was almost 100 deg F that day and this skirt was really sticky and uncomfortable. Definitely suited for cooler fall-esque temperatures. The necklace is from Manish market in Mumbai. Another awesome place to shop! xoxo V
For the "All of Me" + "Main Hoon Hero Tera" mashup (https://youtu.be/UMsA3T4xsU8), I decided to mix it up a little. I found this gorgeous sheer top as a part of my sister's old salwar set. I thought it would perfectly pair with my black Papaya crop top. I was debating between my American Eagle jeans (my all time favorite) or a green maxi skirt. I decided to go with the jeans in the end because the silhouettes balanced out and added a little grunge! The skirt was looking a bit sloppy. I wore some gold mojaris (Aladdin slippers) and my gold Indian earrings. One of my favorite looks so far, and I loved the way the mix-and-match turned out! It's perfect for the fall! xoxo V
Happy Wednesday! I paired a white (hi-low) dress from H&M with a chambray shirt from J Crew, (I got it on a crazy sale). I added my favorite Burberry rain boots (& the only designer item I own). My best friend and I got matching boots 6 years ago during a huge snowstorm, and they have become a staple during rainy days, summer & winter, alike! xoxo V
My first blog post. Hello! I'm not really sure what I'm doing. I've been getting a lot of requests to post where my clothes, etc were from, so I thought I'd just blog about it. It's what the cool kids do these days, right? For someone who was part of the "uncool nerd" group in high school, it's TOTALLY awesome that people dig my style and want to hear more about it. Disclaimer: a lot of my clothes are from many years of collecting & hoarding, so they may not be available now. However, I'll try and post to links that are the closest to them!
I guess it was never really gone. I found this amazing red scarf in my mom's closet, which apparently traveled with my grandmother's in the 50s. HOW COOL. So I thought I had to build a look around it. I decided to keep it simple, with billowy blue (albeit wrinkly) Forever 21 high-waisted shorts and a crop tank. During my numerous visits to India, I stocked up on oxidized silver jewelry, so I paired them with a bold lip and brows. And hallelujah! Done! xoxo V
P.S. I'm afraid the links aren't too accurate to match my outfit. However, same type of silhouette!
