Vidya is an Indian-born American, who loves to travel, eat and sing. She was born in Chennai and grew-up in Virginia. She has learnt Carnatic classical music since she was a young girl and have had many amazing gurus throughout her journey, including D.K. Nagarajan, brother of the late D.K. Pattamal. While obtaining her Psychology degree from George Washington University, Vidya started making YouTube videos, which opened a door she never dreamed of. She's currently learning Hindustani Classical and taking Western voice lessons. Vidya performs regularly as a vocalist of the Shankar Tucker Band. She has performed in some amazing venues around the world, including the White House, NCPA and Webster Hall.
Vidya also has performed at numerous festivals including the Festivals Des Artes in Reunion Island, MERU in Netherlands, & INK Women.
She started posting Bollywood + Western pop mashups on her YouTube channel over a year ago. The songs gained popularity quickly and she has over 60 million views! Vidya's mashups have gained recognition from the likes of Diplo, Major Lazer & Hrithik Roshan, as well as publications such as Cosmopolitan, Buzzfeed, The Hindu, Deccan Chronicle and many more. She is currently working on a solo EP, with original songs and compositions. Check out the buzz here!
She can't live without her headphones and the iTablaPro app. She's obsesses over well-decorated spaces. She loves warm weather, tennis and reading. She also loves to dance, eat tacos and celebrate all different types of festivals. She doesn't have any cool life mottos, she just takes life one day at a time.
